Thelma Jones is looking for new PTA Officers for the 2018-2019 School Year! The election will take place at the General Meeting on April 17th at 6pm.

Thelma Jones PTA Officer Positions 2018-2019
President: Coordinates with officers and committees, presides at PTA meetings, attends PTA District and Council meetings, and works closely with the Principal. Presides at monthly evening PTA board meetings. Year-long commitment including some work over summer.
1st VP (Aide to President): The primary function of the aide to the president is to be prepared to preside at meetings in the absence of the president or upon his/her inability to serve. If the president should resign, the vice president assumes the president’s duties until the position is filled. The vice president should have all the qualities and qualifications of the president. Presides at monthly evening PTA board meetings. Workload varies throughout the year.
2nd VP (Membership): Creatively gets members to join PTA. Attends monthly evening PTA Board meetings. Workload is heaviest at the beginning of the school year.
3rd VP (Programs): Plans parent and student events to entertain, educate and share information. Plan, Coordinate, Organize and Oversee various social events (school dances) throughout the school year. Attends monthly evening PTA Board meetings. Workload is heaviest during various social events.
4th VP (Teacher Appreciation): Coordinates lunches and/or other functions for teachers and staff. Attends monthly evening PTA Board meetings. Workload varies depending on events.
Secretary: Attends and records Minutes of all PTA Board & General meetings. Variable workload.
Treasurer: Maintains books of account and records, makes disbursements and deposits. Presents monthly financial reports.
Historian: Archives all PTA activities, programs, projects, etc. for the year. Assembles and maintains our TJE PTA’s yearly scrapbook and Facebook page.
Chairman/Appointed Positions Available:
A-Honor Roll Party Coordinator - Responsible for contacting Teachers for headcount, plans and executes parties for A-Honor roll students every 6 weeks. Budgets and shops for party supplies, throws party.
Council Delegate - Attends all MISD Council meetings and reports back to the Executive Board.
Parliamentarian - Advises the presiding officers on questions of parliamentary procedures and rules.
Spirit Wear - Researches and contacts vendors, present designs and quotes to Executive Board. Distributes orders.
