The information below was sent as an email on March 11, 2021.
As we move closer to the end of the school year, we want to provide you with information regarding the spring testing schedule.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is requiring that the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) / End of Course (EOC) / Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) exams be taken in-person for both in-person and virtual learners while maintaining health and safety protocols.
To accomplish these guidelines, TEA is allowing districts to file for a waiver that allows school districts to provide asynchronous (online, self-paced) instruction for students who are non-testers during the STAAR and EOC exam administration dates. MISD has filed for this waiver and is requiring both in-person and virtual students to be present on campus to test on their designated STAAR/EOC testing dates.
This means that during the STAAR/EOC/TELPAS testing dates for a certain grade level, the in-person and virtual students for that grade level will come onto campus to take the test. (Again, the district’s extended health and safety protocols will continue to be followed for the safety of students and staff.) Meanwhile, the students in grade levels not testing on that day will stay home, and the district will provide online learning materials and assignments for those non-testers to continue the learning process.
Please review the information below to see how your child's schedule will be impacted:
- MAY 11-12: Fifth Grade in-person and virtual students test at the campus
Sixth Grade in-person and virtual students learn at home asynchronously
- MAY 13-14: Sixth Grade in-person and virtual students test at the campus
Fifth Grade in-person and virtual students learn at home asynchronously
- MAY 17-21: Fifth Grade in-person and virtual students test science online at the campus
Please refer to the spring assessments webpage for more information about testing and makeup testing dates. All makeup testing will take place online on the dates indicated.
Thank you for your flexibility and cooperation as we work together to ensure that all students have the opportunity to complete their assessments safely. If you have any further questions, please contact Mr. Brown (firstname.lastname@example.org).
