Our School Namesake

Donna Shepard was born in Susanville, California in 1944. She received her undergraduate degree from North Texas State University and her graduate degree from Tarleton State University.

She spent 20 years as an educator in the Mansfield school district. She was appointed principal at Mary Orr Intermediate School in 1993. Mrs. Shepard's innovative ideas and dedication to the students at MOIS were admired and respected by all those who came to know her.

Mrs. Shepard continued as principal throughout a courageous battle with cancer. Although she died in 1999, her courage and strength continue to inspire all those who knew and loved her.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Donna Shepard Intermediate School learning community is to provide a diverse education in a safe, supportive environment which promotes creativity, self-discipline, and responsibility to ensure a high level of academic achievement as defined by state and national expectations. A comprehensive support system using tiered interventions is established to achieve this outcome.
